Nigel and Ilka Wedding - St Mary's Church, Orchardleigh - 07.09.13

Nigel and Ilka were such a great couple to photograph. The wedding turned out fabulous (although the rain was touch and go at one stage) and everyone had a wonderful time.
Ilka's family flew over from Germany to be with her on her wedding day and although it was a very intimate wedding it was also very beautiful.
They were married at St.Mary's Church of Orchardleigh made famous by the English poet Sir Henry Newbolt in his poem "Fidele's Grassy Tomb". It is also famous for its quirky location - a church on an island with no electricity. This meant that the organ had to be manually hand pumped and the ONLY light was provided courtesy of the church candles (as you will see below).
What a cute little church in a beautiful estate. The low light was a massive test for my camera but thankfully I managed to push the ISO up to avoid using any flash during the ceremony as that would have spoilt the romantic scene.
After the ceremony it was time for a few formal pics and off to the Holcome Inn Country Pub, Somerset for the reception.
Anyway, here are a few of my highlights from the day...have a fantastic life together Nigel and Ilka and good luck with the "big move".

  1. Happy to know about this wedding. My sister has planned an engagement party for her brother in law at one of the adorable New York wedding venues in a couple of weeks. She is trying her best to get a good response from all the relatives.
